INDEXED UNIVERSAL LIFE

An indexed universal life (IUL) insurance policy is permanent, which means it is permanent life insurance,  it lasts your entire life and builds cash value. The money in your cash-value account can earn interest based on a stock market index such as the S&P 500 or the Nasdaq Composite. The policyholder decides how much cash value to assign to either a fixed account or equity-index accounts.
Benefit Highlights

IUL policies provide an interesting retirement-planning vehicle with greater upside potential and tax advantages. Rather than the cash value portion growing on a fixed interest rate, it's tied to the performance of a market index. Unlike investing directly in an index fund, however, you won't lose money when the market has a downturn.
